Funerals & Memorials

Following the death of a loved one, Cross Winds UMC is here to be a source of comfort in your time of loss.

We are here to help you coordinate a funeral, memorial service, or other gatherings that are desired to honor the life of your loved one, either on church grounds or at a location of your choosing.

DATE, TIME AND PLACE OF SERVICE

If you wish for one of our pastors to conduct the funeral for your loved one, please visit with him or her before you schedule. To avoid personal and building conflicts the pastor will contact the Director of Administration and Funeral Coordinator to schedule the event.

 TYPE OF SERVICE

There are several types of services to consider:

  1. Traditional funeral (where the casket or urn is present), graveside service to follow
  2. Memorial service (where there is no casket)
  3. Graveside service only

Additionally, a visitation can be scheduled before the service on the service day or the evening before.

Following the selection of the date, time, place and type of service the pastor will arrange to gather the family and learn the stories. This will be a time to select favorite scripture and discuss musical choices as well. The pastor and staff will work behind the scenes to handle all logistics.

LUNCHEON OR RECEPTION

After the memorial service, a luncheon or reception may be scheduled. Costs and options vary depending on the choices selected.   A Funeral Coordinator is available to work with you to make arrangements after speaking with the pastor.

 FEES

There are no facility charges or pastoral charges for a funeral, but depending on event choices, there may be fees for musicians, A/V needs, or food service requests. The pastor or Funeral Coordinator can provide additional information.
