Our Story

In 1992, Cross Winds started as a new church community, under the leadership of our founding pastor, Rev. Dan Johnson, meeting in homes. By welcoming neighbors and opening their doors, the church reached out and got started.

The Cross Winds Story

Lights! Camera! Action!

After outgrowing living rooms, the church began meeting in movie theaters with a sense of being "Drawn together to Share The Good News!”  As families got connected and friendships were made, it became clear a new home would soon be needed.

Finding a Home

After a few years of searching for a permanent home, the Cross Winds community settled down on Weaver Lake Road and began building the current facility in 1994 and moved in, June 1995.

Growing Worship

The Fellowship Hall served as a multi-purpose room for worship as well as community gatherings.

Creating Sanctuary

After much anticipation, in 2006 the sanctuary was built along with additional building additions. Over the years, this sacred space has been a place for people to connect with God, celebrate milestones, and find hope.

Worship Today

Through the decades, Cross Winds continues to be a community that shares good news. As United Methodists, we are committed to doing all the good we can and strive to provide spaces for you to do that too. Our hearts, our minds, and our doors are open to all. Whether you join us in-person or online, we look forward to worshipping God with you.

So All Are Welcome

In 2023 we began another series of renovations, including the construction of a new commercial kitchen. We have found that a church like this can quickly become a wonderful place for personal connections and relationships that will last a lifetime. Whether serving, celebrating, or studying, there is a place for you at Cross Winds. Welcome!
